Né à Nizhni Novgorod (Russie), en 1986, dans une famille de musiciens, Denis Kozhukhin commence l’étude du piano à l’âge de 4 ans avec sa mère. Il effectue ensuite ses études à l’École de Musique Balakirev, avec Natalia Fish, avant de rejoindre la Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía de Madrid, en 2000, où il travaille avec Dmitri Bashkirov et Claudio Martinez-Mehner. Il suit également les master classes de Rosalin Tureck, Leon Fleisher et Alicia de Larrocha. Il se perfectionne à l’Académie Internationale du Lac de Côme, auprès de Dmitri Bashkirov, Fou Ts’ong, Stanislav Yudenitch, Peter Frankl, William G. Nabore, John Perry, Boris Berman, Charles Rosen et Andreas Staier. Actuellement, il poursuit sa formation à la Staatliche Hochschule für Musik de Stuttgart avec Kirill Gerstein.
En 2006, il remporte le 3e Prix au Concours International de Leeds, puis, il est premier lauréat du Prix Vendôme à Lisbonne, en 2009, et du Concours Reine Elisabeth, en 2010. La même année, il reçoit le soutien de la Fondation Solti.
Il s’est déjà produit dans les plus grands festivals comme le Festival de Verbier, le Progetto Martha Argerich à Lugano, le Klavier-Festival de la Ruhr, le Rheingau Musik Festival, le Festival International de musique de chambre de Jérusalem, le Festival de Santander, ainsi que dans des lieux prestigieux comme le Carnegie Hall, l’Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia à Milan, le Palau de la Musica à Valence, le Théâtre du Châtelet et l’Auditorium du Louvre.
Parmi les orchestres européens avec lesquels il a travaillé ou travaillera prochainement, citons le Symphonique de Vienne (sous la direction de M. Alsop), les Philharmoniques de St-Pétersbourg (E. Krivine), du Luxembourg (V. Sinaisky), des Pays-Bas (K. Karabits), de Prague (J. Hruša). La saison prochaine, il interprétera le cycle complet des concertos de Prokofiev, avec le BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, dirigé par Jun Maerkl, Xian Zhang, Lan Shui, Ludovic Morlot et Martyn Brabbins. Aux États-Unis, il a joué avec les Symphoniques de Baltimore et de l’Utah.
Avec le Trio Cervantes, Denis Kozhukhin a suivi des master classes auprès de Ralph Gothóni, Bruno Canino, Eldar Nebolsin, Ferenc Rados et Menahem Pressler. En musique de chambre toujours, il a travaillé avec des artistes comme Radovan Vlatkovic, Dora Schwarzberg, Alisa Weilerstein, Jacob Koranyi et Alissa Margulis.

Denis Kozhukhin, geboren in een muzikale familie in Rusland (1986, Nizhni Novgorod), begon op de leeftijd van vier jaar piano te studeren bij zijn moeder. Vervolgens ging hij les volgen bij Natalia Fish aan de Muziekacademie van Balakirev. In 2000 trok hij naar Madrid om zich aan de Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía bij Dmitri Bashkirov en Claudio Martinez-Mehner verder te scholen. Hij volgde daarnaast master classes bij Rosalin Tureck, Leon Fleisher en Alicia de Larrocha. Aan de Internationale Academie van Lago di Como kreeg hij de kans met Fou Ts’ong, Stanislav Yudenitch, Peter Frankl, William G. Nabore, John Perry, Boris Berman, Charles Rosen en Andreas Staier te werken. Momenteel vervolmaakt hij zijn opleiding bij Kirill Gerstein aan de Staatliche Hochschule für Musik van Stuttgart.
In 2006 behaalde hij de 3de Prijs op de Internationale Wedstrijd van Leeds. Hij won vervolgens de Vendôme Prize in Lissabon in 2009 en de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd in 2010. In datzelfde jaar was hij ook een laureaat van de Solti Stichting.
Hij heeft de voorbije jaren opgetreden op gerenommeerde festivals als die van Verbier en Santander, het Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano, het Klavier-Festival Ruhr, het Rheingau Musik Festival, het Internationaal Kamermuziekfestival van Jeruzalem, alsook in prestigieuze zalen als de Carnegie Hall, het Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, de Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Milan, het Palau de la Musica in Valencia, het Théâtre du Châtelet en het Auditorium du Louvre in Parijs. Onder de Europese orkesten waarmij hij gewerkt heeft of zal werken, tellen we de Wiener Philharmoniker (o.l.v. M. Alsop), de Filharmonische Orkesten van Sint-Petersburg (E. Krivine), Luxemburg (V. Sinaisky), Nederland (K. Karabits) en Praag (J. Hruša). Volgend seizoen zal hij de volledige cyclus van concerti van Prokofiev vertolken met het BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, onder leiding van J. Maerkl, X. Zhang, L. Shui, L. Morlot en M. Brabbins. In de Verenigde Staten heeft hij opgetreden met de Symfonische Orkesten van Baltimore en Utah.
Samen met het Cervantes Trio heeft Denis Kozhukhin master classes gevolgd bij Ralph Gothóni, Bruno Canino, Eldar Nebolsin, Ferenc Rados en Menahem Pressler. In recital heeft hij samengewerkt met artiesten als Radovan Vlatkovic, Dora Schwarzberg, Alisa Weilerstein, Jacob Koranyi en Alissa Margulis.

Denis Kozhukhin was launched onto the international scene after winning First Prize in the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition. Previous awards include 1st Prize at the Vendome Prize in Lisbon in 2009, and 3rd Prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2006.
Born in Nizhni Novgorod, Russia, in 1986 into a family of musicians, Denis Kozhukhin began his piano studies at the age of four with his mother. From 2000 to 2007, Kozhukhin was a pupil at the Reine Sofia School of Music in Madrid learning with Dimitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martinez-Mehner. During this period, he took part in masterclasses with, amongst others, Rosalin Tureck, Leon Fleisher and Alicia de Larrocha.
Upon graduating, he received his diploma personally from the Queen of Spain and was named best student in his year and twice best chamber group with his own Cervantes Trio. After his studies in Madrid, Kozhukhin was invited to study at the Piano Academy at Lake Como where he received tuition from Dimitri Bashkirov, Fou Ts’ong, Stanislav Yudenitch, Peter Frankl, William G. Nabore, John Perry, Boris Berman, Charles Rosen and Andreas Staier.
Denis Kozhukhin has appeared at many of the most prestigious festivals and concert halls including the Verbier Festival, where he won the Prix d’Honneur in 2003, Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Rheingau Music Festival, Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, Santander International Festival, Carnegie Hall, Auditorio Nacional Madrid, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Milan, Palau de la Musica Valencia, Théâtre du Châtelet and Auditorium du Louvre Paris.
Forthcoming European orchestral concerts include Vienna Symphony with Alsop, St Petersburg Philharmonic with Krivine, Luxembourg Philharmonic with Sinaisky, Netherlands Philharmonic with Karabits, Belgian National Orchestra with Boreyko, and Prague Philharmonia with Hrusa. Kozhukhin will also perform the complete cycle of Prokofiev concerti with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in the 11/12 season, working with Jun Maerkl, Xian Zhang, Lan Shui, Ludovic Morlot and Martyn Brabbins. In the USA Kozhukhin will appear with the Baltimore Symphony and Utah Symphony.
This year he will appear at the Klavier Festival Ruhr, Rheingau Festival and on a debut tour in Japan and Brazil. He will also play in the opening concerts of the Oslo Chamber and Santander International Music Festivals.
Kozhukhin is also a committed chamber musician and with the Cervantes Trio, he has received masterclasses from Ralph Gothóni, Bruno Canino, Eldar Nebolsin, Ferenc Rados and Menahem Pressler. He has also worked as a chamber musician with, amongst others, Radovan Vlatkovic, Dora Schwarzberg, Alisa Weilerstein, Jacob Koranyi and Alissa Margulis. Denis Kozhukhin is currently studying at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Music und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart with Kirill Gerstein. He gratefully acknowledges the support of the Solti Foundation from whom he received an award in 2010.
