Vera TSU
[terug]A native of Shanghai, Tsu Vera began studying the violin with her father, Tsu Chi Peng. Later she received a very strict professional training in China with Li Mozheng and Lin Yaoji. In 1980 Tsu went to pursue her studies at the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, where she was under the direction of Dorothy DeLay and Rafael Bronstein. Tsu was the first violinist from the People’s Republic of China in her generation to have appeared as a soloist at both Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. As a soloist, she has appeared with many orchestras, including the New York City Symphony, the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Budapest Radio Orchestra, the Hanover Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Rundfunkorchester, the China Central Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. She was invited to give a solo recital at the gala concert of the prestigious Légion d’Honneur at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in 1993. In October 1998 she appeared as a soloist with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra in Berlin and on tour in China. Tsu’s recording of the Korngold and Goldmark violin concertos was warmly acclaimed by the music media. She appeared as a soloist with K. Penderecki in a performance of the Beethoven Violin Concerto in early 2005. Tsu serves as a member of the jury of many prestigious competitions worldwide. Since November 2000 she has been professor of violin at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
Née à Shanghai, Tsu Vera commence l’étude du violon avec son père, Tsu Chi Peng, avant de poursuivre son éducation musicale en Chine, auprès de Li Mozheng et Lin Yaoji. En 1980, elle se rend à la Juilliard School et à la Manhattan School of Music, où elle travaille avec Dorothy DeLay et Rafael Bronstein. Tsu Vera est la première violoniste chinoise de sa génération à se produire en soliste à la fois au Carnegie Hall et au Avery Fisher Hall. Elle a joué avec les orchestres symphoniques de New York, de Singapour et de Hanovre, le Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, l’Orchestre de la Radio de Budapest, le WDR Rundfunkorchester, le China Central Philharmonic Orchestra, parmi d’autres. En 1993, elle est invitée à donner un récital solo pour le concert de gala de la Légion d’Honneur au Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. En octobre 1998, elle se produit à Berlin et en Chine, avec le Rundfunk Sinfoniorchester Berlin. Elle a également interprété le concerto de Beethoven sous la baguette de K. Penderecki, début 2005. Ses enregistrements des concertos de Korngold et Goldmark ont été salués par la critique musicale. Membre du jury des concours les plus prestigieux, Tsu Vera est, depuis novembre 2000, professeur de violon au Conservatoire de Musique de Beijing.
Tsu Vera werd geboren in Shanghai en leerde viool spelen bij haar vader, Tsu Chi Peng. Ze werd verder opgeleid door Li Mozheng en Lin Yaoji, vooraleer zich te vervolmaken aan de Juilliard School en de Manhattan School of Music, waar ze bij Dorothy DeLay en Rafael Bronstein studeerde. Ze was de eerste Chinese violiste van haar generatie die zowel in de Carnegie Hall als de Avery Fisher Hall als soliste mocht aantreden.
