Chen Jiafeng étudie le violon dans sa ville natale, avant de se perfectionner à la Chetham’s School of Music de Manchester, puis au Royal College of Music de Londres auprès de Jan Repko. Actuellement, il se perfectionnen au Juilliard School auprès de Cho-Liang Lin et Ronald Copes. En Chine puis en Angleterre, où il a bénéficié de plusieurs bourses d’études, il a donné de nombreux récitals, de même qu’aux États-Unis, en Afrique du Sud et dans d’autres pays d’Europe. Il a participé à des festivals comme les BBC Proms, le Festival Verbier et le Lake District Music Festival. Il s’est entre autres produit avec le Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta (Paavo Berglund), Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie (Paul Goodwin), l'Orchestre National de Belgique (Gilbert Varga) en et celui de l'Ukraine. Lauréat de nombeux concours, il a remporté le 1er Prix du Concours Wieniawski en 2003, ainsi que les 2e Prix aux concours Sibelius (2005), Yehudi Menuhin (2008) et Windsor (2011).
Na vioolstudies in zijn geboortestad vervolmaakte Chen Jiafeng zich aan de Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, daarna aan het Royal College of Music in Londen bij Jan Repko. Momenteel vervolmaakt hij zich aan de Juilliard School bij Cho-Liang Lin en Ronald Copes. Hij kreeg verschillende studiebeurzen in China en in Groot-Brittannië en gaf daar talrijke recitals, evenals in de Verenigde Staten, Zuid-Afrika en in verschillende Europese landen. Hij nam deel aan festivals zoals de BBC Proms, het Verbier Festival en het Lake District Music Festival. Hij trad onder andere op met het Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, The Halle Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta (Paavo Berglund), Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie (Paul Goodwin), het Nationaal Orkest van België (Gilbert Varga) en dat van Oekraïne. Hij was laureaat van verschillende wedstrijden en won in 2003 de Eerste Prijs van de Wieniawskiwedstrijd en de Tweede Prijs op de muziekwedstrijden Sibelius (2005), Yehudi Menuhin (2008) en Windsor (2011).
Chen Jiafeng studied the violin in his home town before going on to further studies at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and later at the Royal College of Music in London with Jan Repko. Currently, he is studying at The Juilliard School with Cho-Liang Lin and Ronald Copes. He has given a number of recitals in China, the UK, the US, South Africa, and various European countries. He has taken part in several festivals, including the BBC Proms, the Verbier Festival and the Lake District Music Festival, and has worked with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, The Halle Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta (Paavo Berglund), Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie (Paul Goodwin), the National Orchestra of Belgium (Gilbert Varga), and the National Orchestra of Ukraine, among others. A laureate of a number of competitions, he won first prize at the Wieniawski Competition in 2003, second prize at both the Sibelius Competition (2005), the Yehudi Menuhin Competition (2008) and the Windsor International String Competition (2011).
