Gérard POULET
[Retour]Gérard Poulet, son of the violinist and orchestra conductor Gaston Poulet, entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris at the age of 11; he won his first prize there the following year. He studied with Zino Francescatti, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein, and Henryk Szeryng. At the age of 18 he won First Prize at the Paganini Competition in Genoa. Gérard Poulet has played with many great orchestras, including the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre National de France, the national orchestras of Strasbourg, Lille, Bordeaux, and Lyons, the Orchestra of the RAI, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Liège Philharmonic, and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. A regular guest at major festivals all over the world, he also serves on the jury of a number of prestigious international competitions. A great teacher, he gives master classes and teaches at the Vienna and Beijing Conservatories, the École Normale Supérieure de Paris, and, since 2004, the Tokyo University of the Arts. He has made many recordings, as a soloist, with orchestras, and in chamber music, of works by Lalo, Bartók, Schubert, Franck, Lekeu, Pierné, Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky, among others, and of the Bach Sonatas and Partitas (1996), highly acclaimed by the musical press.
Fils du violoniste et chef d’orchestre Gaston Poulet, Gérard Poulet est entré à 11 ans au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, où il obtient son premier prix l’année suivante. Il étudie auprès de Zino Francescatti, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein et Henryk Szeryng. À 18 ans, il remporte le Premier Prix du Concours Paganini à Gênes. Gérard Poulet a joué avec les plus grands orchestres comme l’Orchestre de Paris, l’Orchestre National de France, les Orchestres nationaux de Strasbourg, Lille, Bordeaux, Lyon, l’Orchestre de la RAI, le Symphonique de la Radio de Prague, le Philharmonique de Liège, le Symphonique de Beijing, etc. Habitué des grands festivals de par le monde, il siège aussi dans le jury des prestigieux concours internationaux. Grand pédagogue, il donne des master classes et enseigne aux Conservatoires de Vienne et de Beijing, à l’École Normale Supérieure de Paris et, depuis 2004, à la Tokyo University of the Arts. Il a réalisé de nombreux enregistrements, en soliste, avec orchestre et en musique de chambre, d’oeuvres de Lalo, Bartók, Schubert, Franck, Lekeu, Pierné, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky, etc. et des Sonates et Partitas de Bach (1996), fort remarquées par la presse musicale.
Gérard Poulet, zoon van violist en dirigent Gaston Poulet, werd op elfjarige leeftijd toegelaten aan het Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, waar hij een jaar later al afstudeerde. Onder zijn leermeesters tellen we Zino Francescatti, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein en Henryk Szeryng. Op achttienjarige leeftijd behaalde hij de Eerste Prijs op de Paganiniwedstrijd in Genua. Hij heeft met de meest gerenommeerde orkesten opgetreden, waaronder het Orchestre de Paris, het Orchestre National de France, de orkesten van Straatsburg, Rijsel, Bordeaux en Lyon, het orkest van de RAI, het Praags radiosymfonieorkest, het Orchestre philharmonique de Liège, het symfonisch orkest van Beijing, enz., en wordt regelmatig zowel op internationale festivals als in de jury’s van prestigieuze internationale wedstrijden uitgenodigd. Ook als pedagoog heeft Gérard Poulet naam gemaakt: hij combineert het geven van master classes met posities aan de faculteiten van de conservatoria van Wenen en Beijing, de École Normale Supérieure de Paris en sinds 2004 aan de Tokyo University of the Arts. Als solist, met orkest en in ensemble heeft hij door de muziekpers sterk gesmaakte opnames gerealiseerd, met werken van Lalo, Bartók, Schubert, Franck, Lekeu, Pierné, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky, enz. en met de Sonates en Partita’s van Bach (1996).
