Yossif Ivanov was awarded the First Prize at the Montreal International Competition at the young age of 16, and the Second Prize as well as the Public Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition at the age of 18.
Over the last years he has made acclaimed debuts in all major European cities such as London (London Philharmonic Orchestra), Berlin (Konzerthausorchester), Paris (Salle Pleyel, Cité de la Musique and Louvre), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Vienna (Konzerthaus), Salzburg (Mozarteum) and Geneva (Orchestre de la Suisse Romande). He got very good press for his orchestral debuts in the USA (on tour with London Philharmonic and Vladimir Jurowski) and in Asia (Malaysian Philharmonic and Singapore Symphony Orchestra).
Yossif Ivanov has been invited to play recitals at, among many others, the Menton and Montpellier Festivals in France, the Philharmonie Essen and the Beethovenfest Bonn in Germany, the Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti Roma, the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Ladies’ Morning Musical Club in Montréal. Apart from his regular recital partners Itamar Golan and Philippe Ivanov, he also collaborated with the pianists Ingrid Fliter, Frank Braley, David Kadouch and Plamena Mangova.
As an orchestral soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Residentie Orkest The Hague, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Lille and all the major orchestras in Belgium. He has worked with well-known conductors such as Neëme Järvi, Marin Alsop, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Vladimir Jurowski, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Philippe Herreweghe, Jaap Van Zweden, Kees Bakels, Yuri Simonov, John Axelrod and Yoel Levi.
Highlights of the recent and future seasons include his debut with the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI, the Orchestra di Milano Verdi (conducted by Muhai Tang), the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, the Rotterdams Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin), the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (conducted by Jesus Lopez-Cobos), the Green Bay Symphony and the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also reinvited to perform with the Royal Flemish Philharmonic (two concerts in Belgium) and with the Orcheste Philharmonique de Liège (concerts in Warsaw, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Brussels and Liège), and will play recitals in San Juan (Puerto Rico), Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
In November 2006, his first CD on the Ambroisie/Naïve label was awarded a Diapason d’Or de l’Année, the most important recording industry award in France. His first concerto CD, a coupling of the first concerto of Shostakovitch and the second of Bartók, was very well received by the musical press. For his second orchestral disc, which includes works of Henri Dutilleux, Yossif Ivanov has collaborated with the Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Lyon and Kazushi Ono.
Yossif Ivanov has studied the violin with Zakhar Bron, Igor and Valery Oistrakh and Augustin Dumay. He is the youngest violin teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
Yossif Ivanov plays on the 1699 “Lady Tennant” Stradivarius, kindly lent by the Stradivarius Society of Chicago.
A l’âge de 16 ans, Yossif Ivanov a obtenu le Premier Grand Prix du Concours Musical International de Montréal, pour remporter le Deuxième Prix au Concours Reine Elisabeth de Belgique ainsi que le Prix du Public à l’âge de 18 ans.
Au cours des dernières saisons, Yossif Ivanov a fait ses débuts avec beaucoup de succès dans toutes les villes européennes musicales d’importance, notamment à Londres (Orchestre Philharmonique de Londres), à Berlin (Konzerthausorchester), à Paris (Orchestre National d’Île de France), à Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), à Vienne (Wiener Kammerorchester), à Salzbourg (Mozarteum) et à Genève (Orchestre de la Suisse Romande).
Yossif Ivanov a entre autres été invité à jouer des récitals aux Festivals de Menton et Montpellier en France, à la Philharmonie de Essen en Allemagne, au Carnegie Hall à New York et au Ladies’ Morning Musical Club à Montréal. A part ses accompagnateurs réguliers, Itamar Golan et Philippe Ivanov, il a également collaboré avec les pianistes Ingrid Fliter, Frank Braley, David Kadouch et Plamena Mangova.
Yossif Ivanov a joué en tant que soliste avec des orchestres importants comme l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, le Residentieorkest La Haye, l’English Chamber Orchestra, l’Orchestre Symphonique de Lucerne, le Sinfonia Varsovia, l‘Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, l’Orchestre National de Lille et tous les orchestres belges, sous la direction de chefs reconnus comme Neëme Järvi, Marin Alsop, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jaap van Zweden, Yoel Levi, John Axelrod, Jean-Claude Casadesus et Philippe Herreweghe.
Parmi ses multiples projets pour les saisons à venir, citons ses débuts avec orchestre aux Etats-Unis (tournée avec l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Londres / Vladimir Jurowski) et en Asie (l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Malaysie et l’Orchestre Symphonique de Singapore). Il se produira pour la première fois avec le Milano Verdi Orchestra, l’Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal et l’Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse. Il est réinvité au Concertgebouw d’Amsterdam (Brabants Orkest / Yuri Simonov) et donnera des récitals au Festival des Flandres, au Beethovenfest à Bonn et à l’ Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti à Rome.
Son premier enregistrement, paru chez Ambroisie/Naïve, a reçu le fameux « Diapason d’Or de l’Année » en novembre 2006. Son premier disque avec orchestre, consacré au deuxième concerto de Bartók et au premier de Chostakovitch, avait également été très bien reçu par la presse musicale. Pour son deuxième CD avec orchestre, qui contiendra des œuvres de Henri Dutilleux et qui sortira prochainement, Yossif Ivanov est accompagné par l’Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Lyon sous la baguette de Kazushi Ono.
Après ses premiers pas musicaux, il a poursuivi son éducation musicale auprès de Zakhar Bron, Igor et Valery Oistrakh et Augustin Dumay. Yossif Ivanov est le professeur le plus jeune du Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.

De Belgische violist Yossif Ivanov won op 16-jarige leeftijd het “Concours Musical International de Montréal” en op 18-jarige leeftijd behaalde hij de Tweede Prijs alsook de publieksprijs op de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd.
De voorbije seizoenen debuteerde hij met veel succes op de podia van de belangrijkste Europese muzikale steden, zoals Londen (London Philharmonic Orchestra), Berlijn (Konzerthausorchester), Parijs (Orchestre National d’Ile de France), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Wenen (Wiener Kammerorchester), Salzburg (Mozarteum) en Genève (Orchestre de la Suisse Romande).
Daarnaast gaf hij ondermeer recitals op de Festivals van Menton en Montpellier in Frankrijk, in de Philharmonie te Essen in Duitsland, in Carnegie Hall te New York en voor de Ladies' Morning Musical Club te Montréal. Behalve met zijn gebruikelijke recitalpartners Itamar Golan en Philippe Ivanov werkte hij samen met de pianisten Ingrid Fliter, Frank Braley, David Kadouch en Plamena Mangova.
Als solist gaf hij concerten samen met ondermeer het Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, het Residentieorkest Den Haag, het Luzerner Symphonieorchester, het English Chamber Orchestra, de Sinfonia Varsovia, het Orchestre National de Lille, het Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg en alle belangrijke orkesten van België, en dit onder leiding van dirigenten als Neëme Järvi, Marin Alsop, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jaap van Zweden, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Yoel Levi, John Axelrod en Philippe Herreweghe.
Hoogtepunten voor de komende seizoenen zijn debuten met orkest in de Verenigde Staten (London Philharmonic Orchestra / Vladimir Jurowski) en in Azië (Malaysian Philharmonic en Singapore Symphony Orchestra). Verder zal hij voor het eerst te horen zijn met het Milano Verdi Orchestra, het Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal en het Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, is hij opnieuw uitgenodigd in het Concertgebouw van Amsterdam (Brabants Orkest / Yuri Simonov) en zal hij recitals geven op het Festival van Vlaanderen, het Beethovenfest te Bonn en voor het Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti Roma.
Zijn eerste CD-opname, verschenen bij het label Ambroisie/Naïve, werd in november 2006 bekroond met een “Diapason d’Or de l’Année”, Frankrijks belangrijkste muzikale onderscheiding. Ook zijn eerste opname met orkest – met het eerste concerto van Shostakovitch en het tweede van Bartók – werd zeer goed onthaald in de muzikale pers. Binnenkort verschijnt een tweede CD met orkest, met werken van Henri Dutilleux, waarop Yossif Ivanov begeleid wordt door het Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Lyon onder leiding van Kazushi Ono.
Yossif Ivanov studeerde viool bij Zakhar Bron, Igor & Valéry Oistrakh en Augustin Dumay. Hij is de jongste docent viool aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel.
Yossif Ivanov bespeelt de Stradivarius “Lady Tennant” van 1699, die hem ter beschikking gesteld wordt door de Stradivarius Society of Chicago.
