Born in Beirut in 1958, Abdel Rahman El Bacha lives in France, where he attended advanced lessons from the age of sixteen, in the class of Pierre Sancan, at the Paris National Conservatoire. He left with four first prizes (piano, chamber music, harmony and counterpoint). Since the revelation of his talent at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1978, which he won unanimously, and after a pause dedicated to expanding his repertoire, he has performed in the most prestigious concert halls in Europe and throughout the world. He has played with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Paris Orchestra, the NHK of Tokyo, the English Chamber Orchestra... His first record, devoted to the First Works of Prokofiev, won the Grand Prix of the Académie Charles Cros, and he has since recorded numerous works (Bach, Ravel, Schubert, Schumann, Rachmaninov) at Forlane, as well as Prokofiev's 5 concertos (live) at Fuga Libera. His complete numbered piano sonatas of Beethoven and Chopin's complete works for piano solo, in chronological order, have been a great success, in the concert hall and on CD alike. Abdel Rahman El Bacha, master in residence for the piano at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, is also a composer.

Abdel Rahman El Bacha werd in 1958 in Beiroet geboren, maar woont in Frankrijk. Daar vervolmaakte hij zich vanaf zijn zestiende bij Pierre Sancan, aan het Parijse Conservatoire National Supérieur. Hij behaalde er vier eerste prijzen (piano, kamermuziek, harmonie en contrapunt). Nadat zijn talent overduidelijk bleek tijdens de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd in 1978, die hij met eenparigheid van stemmen won, bleef het even stil rond hem omdat hij aan de uitbreiding van zijn repertorium wou werken. Daarna trad hij op in de meest prestigieuze zalen in Europa en wereldwijd. Hij speelt met orkesten zoals de Berliner Philharmoniker, het Orchestre de Paris, het NHK Symphony Orchestra, het English Chamber Orchestra... Voor zijn eerste plaat, met de eerste werken van Prokofiev, kreeg hij de Grote Prijs van de Académie Charles Cros. Talrijke opnames zullen volgen, zoals van werken van Bach, Ravel, Schubert, Schumann, Rachmaninov bij Forlane, en de vijf concerto's van Prokofiev (live) bij Fuga Libera. Zijn integrales van de sonates van Beethoven en het solowerk voor piano van Chopin - in chronologische volgorde - zijn een klinkend succes, zowel tijdens concerten als op cd. Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Meester in residentie piano bij de Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth, is ook componist.

Né à Beyrouth en 1958, Abdel Rahman El Bacha vit en France, où il se perfectionne dès l'âge de seize ans dans la classe de Pierre Sancan, au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris. Il joue avec des orchestres tels que le Philharmonique de Berlin, l'orchestre de Paris, le NHK de Tokyo, l'English Chamber Orchestra... Depuis son premier disque, consacré aux Premières Oeuvres de Prokofiev, qui obtient le Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros, il enregistre de nombreuses oeuvres (Bach, Ravel, Schubert, Schumann, Rachmaninov) chez Forlane, ainsi que les 5 concertos de Prokofiev (live) chez Fuga Libera. Ses intégrales des sonates de Beethoven et de l'oeuvre pour piano seul de Chopin - en ordre chronologique - sont un très grand succès, tant au concert qu'en CD. Abdel Rahman El Bacha, maître de piano à la Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, est également compositeur.
