Royal Brussels Conservatory
Programme of the 24 semi-finalists
At each session, two candidates will perform a Mozart concerto with the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, conducted by Paul Goodwin. Afterwards, two other candidates will give their recitals, either solo or with piano accompaniment, of approximately 40 minutes. They will perform works chosen by the jury from among those proposed.
Each candidate must prepare the following works:
- A work for solo violin by Eugène Ysaÿe (compulsory).
- The previously unpublished compulsory work written especially for the competition by Claude Ledoux.
- Four important, genuinely difficult works, including one Romantic work and one work written after 1950. These four works must be by different composers.
The Competition’s official pianists are Scott Faigen, Thomas Hoppe, Tobias Koch, and Eliane Reyes.
The names of the 12 finalists will be announced on Saturday 16 May at the end of the evening.
