Even at infancy, Yury Favorin (1986) exhibited an extraordinary ability for music (ear and memory). At the age of five, he began learning the piano and recorder. He was eight when he entered the Gnesin Specialized Musical Primary School in Moscow, where he learned the piano under Lidiya Grigor’eva, the clarinet under Ivan Mozgovenko, and the composition under Vladimir Dovgan’. In 2004, Yury entered the Chaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory to study the piano under Professor Miknail Voskresenskii. He also studied the composition with Karen Khachaturyan and chamber ensemble with Alexander Rudin. Yury graduated from the Conservatory magna cum laude in 2009.
Currently, Yury is a postgraduate student at the Moscow State Conservatory. He has taken an active part in numerous musical festivals, such as the I.S. Bach Festival, the O. Messiaen Festival, the “Steinway Parade”, and the “Gradus ad Parnassum” Piano Festival in Moscow, the “Moscow Forum” (International Festival of Modern Music) and “Moscow Autumn”. Yury gave recitals in many countries — Germany, Austria, Norway, Hungary, France, Italy, Sweden, Polen, and Belgium among them — achieving outstanding success everywhere. Yury also gives charity concerts for sick children (Moscow), war children (Vienna), and the disabled (Vienna).
Yury is the winner of the First Prize of the Gyorgy Cziffra Foundation (Vienna, 2003), he received a Diploma by the Ministry of Culture in Russia, and is a laureate of many Russian and International Competitions: the International Olivier Messiaen Competition (modern piano), Fourth Prize («Yvonne Loriod Prize»); a Prize for Junior Soloist Performer from the Musical Creativity Foundation (Paris, 2007); the First N. Rubinstein Junior Piano Competition, First Prize (Moscow, 2001); the Open International Competition of Piano Composers “Nikolai Rubinstein and the Moscow Composer School” of the “Classical Heritage” Association, Third Prize (the First and Second Prizes were not awarded) (Moscow, 1998); etc.

Al op heel jonge leeftijd gaf Yury Favorin blijk van een buitengewoon muzikaal talent, niet alleen voor piano, blokfluit en klarinet, maar ook als componist. Hij heeft aan de Academie van Gnessin bij Lidia Grigorjeva gestudeerd en zette zijn opleiding dan verder aan het Tchaikovsky Conservatorium in Moskou bij Mikhail Voskresensky. Bij Karen Khachaturyan studeerde hij compositie en bij Alexander Rudin volgde hij kamermuziek. Yury studeerde er in 2009 magna cum laude af. Momenteel volgt hij er een postgraduaat. Hij neemt regelmatig deel aan festivals, zoals het I.S. Bach Festival, het Messiaen Festival, de “Steinway Parade" en het “Gradus ad Parnassum” Piano Festival in Moskou, het “Moscow Forum” (International Festival of Modern Music) en “Moscow Autumn”. Yury heeft recitals gegeven in onder meer Duitsland, Oostenrijk, Noorwegen, Hongarije, Frankrijk, Italië, Zweden, Polen en België, waar hij overal met enthousiasme begroet werd. Hij organiseerde reeds liefdadigheidsconcerten voor zieke kinderen in Moskou en voor oorlogskinderen en mindervaliden in Wenen. Hij nam deel aan verschillende Russische en internationale wedstrijden voor jonge musici ; zo onderscheidde hij zich in 2007 op de Olivier Messiaenwedstrijd als jongste solist. Hij won in 2003 de eerste prijs van de Gyorgy Cziffra Stichting in Wenen en ontving een diploma van het Russische Ministerie voor Cultuur.

Depuis son plus jeune âge, YURY FAVORIN montre des dons musicaux extraordinaires, aussi bien pour le piano, la flûte à bec, la clarinette, qu’en tant que compositeur. Il étudie à l’Académie de Gnessin avec Lidia Grigorjeva, avant de poursuivre sa formation au Conservatoire Tchaikovsky de Moscou auprès de Mikhail Voskresensky. Il a participé à différentes compétitions pour jeunes musiciens et s’est ainsi distingué au Concours Olivier Messiaen en 2007, en tant que plus jeune soliste. Il a joué dans les grandes salles de Moscou, et dans d’autres villes russes, ainsi qu’en Pologne, Allemagne, Hongrie, Autriche, Norvège, Chine, Italie, France. En 2007, il a donné Oiseaux exotiques de Messiaen avec l’Ensemble Intercontemporain dirigé par Pierre Boulez.
