In 2012 we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Eugène Ysaÿe Competition, known since 1951 as the Queen Elisabeth Competition. This year it is the violinists’ turn again. From 30 April until 14 June they will perform at Flagey and the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts. Subscriptions go on sale on 14 and 21 February, tickets on Tuesday 13 March.

A 4CD box set, containing 8 great violin concertos, played by 8 outstanding laureates, inaugurates the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Ysaÿe and Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2012.

To mark its 75th birthday in 2012, the Queen Elisabeth Competition will stream some outstanding audio and video from its archives on its website. These archives will provide a record of the fascinating artistic experiences down the years of many of the Competition’s laureates. Help us share these truly special and moving memories and this wonderful musical heritage by making a donation !

In 2013, the Competition will be dedicated to the pianists. The participant’s age limit is raised to 30 years (i.e. they must be born after 15 January 1983). More information about the entry conditions and the competition rounds is available in the rules.

The application form for the 2012 Composition Competition is available on the applications' website. The purpose of this competition is to select a work for piano and symphony orchestra of about 10 minutes, to be played in the final of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for pianists in 2013.

The applications for the 2012 violin competition are closed. Using their login and password, candidates can still consult and print their application form.
